Dear Parents,
We are entering the rush to the end of the school year with May’s warmer temperatures this weekend has everyone thinking about summer plans. Because students will be missing class due to testing, I would like to remind everyone to check our poetry website at http://gmsela7poetry.weebly.com/ for notes and missing work. Students have two RDWs this week, due on Friday.
Progress reports will go out this week. Please check the grades on Power School and have your student check the gmsela7.weebly.com for any and all makeup assignments, RDWs, and such under the Ms. Baldini tab.
This week’s RDWs:
RDW #1 – Write three compound sentences, three complex sentences starting with dependent clauses, three complex starting with independent clauses, and three compound-complex sentences. (Box FANBOYS, circle dependent marker words, and highlight commas)
RDW #2 – You may write about any or all of the following questions: What is your favorite poem (this could be one we read together or a favorite poem you read on your own). What do you like about poetry? What is your favorite poem that you have written so far? What have you learned about poetry so far in this unit? Highlight three complex-compound sentences.
Dates:
Friday, May 8 – RDWs due
Final Book Talks are due May 22
Have a great week!
Ms. Baldini
