Only two weeks before Christmas—this year has flown past! Because of time constraints, students weren’t issued copies of our novel last week; however, they received them Monday. Students can also expect overnight reading assignments.
Tuesday: Chapter 2 (students will be expected to read it Monday night independently) Thursday: Tutoring (last change to make up quizzes/RDWs/conference about papers)
RDW #1--Create three complex sentences beginning with dependent clauses, three starting with independent clauses, and three compound sentences. Put a box around FANBOYS, and circle dependent marker words. Highlight all commas.
RDW #2--Compare the first chapter of Homeless Bird with the AoWs “First Comes Marriage” and “The Problem with Arranged Marriage.” These authors of the articles had opposing points of view. Which author do you think Gloria Whelan, author of Homeless Bird, would agree with and why? Cite and highlight text evidence from the article and the book.
I’ve attached “The Problem With Arranged Marriage” because that it portrays arranged marriage in a negative light, just as Gloria Whelan does. J.
RDW #3—What evidence in the first three chapters indicates the type of relationship Koly is going to have with her new family? Cite and highlight text evidence from each of the first three chapters.
-Vision screenings on Wednesday and Thursday
-Dance on Friday (6:30-8:00)
-Second PR book due in person 12/16 or on paper 1/7.
Beginning December 17, I will be on medical leave for a couple weeks. I have discussed with the students my absence and the expectations I have for them when a sub is in the room. Due to this absence, I want to help out the students as much as possible.
- Any quizzes MUST be retaken this week.
- Thursday will be the last tutoring until the new semester.
- Any make up work they would like to turn in needs to be done by Monday, 12/15.
- All Short Story revisions, for a possible better grade, must be turned in my Tuesday 12/16.
Have a great week!
