Dear parents,
Only two weeks left! We have quite a bit of work to do during that time as we finish our poetry projects and prepare for the quarterly assessment.
Due dates:
Wednesday: Assessment review packet due (optional—students can complete this to wipe out missing RDWs from the past or for extra credit on past quizzes) Extra copies can be found on the ELA website.
Thursday: Quarterly assessment
Friday:
RDW #1: For each of the four advertisements, explain the purpose of figurative language or sound devices. Highlight TAG in one color, a quick summary of the advertisement (if applicable) in another color, the type of figurative language being used in a third color, and the impact it has on the viewer in a fourth color.
Please find the assignment attached—we will do the first part together in class as an example.
Poetry Portfolios: These can be turned in early today for extra credit. I’ve attached the rubric in case you’d like to review the requirements with your child.
Book projects due: If your child missed the book talk due date, he or she must complete the one-pager.
Monday, June 1: Poetry portfolios due
Have a great week!
Leanne Falconer
