Dear parents,
Welcome to our second week of school! This week, we will be working on getting organized and thinking about our theme for the year: perspective. I’m looking forward to meeting many of you on September 23rd at our VIP Parent Night--you’ll get to meet all of your student’s teachers and experience a day in the life of your child as you attend all of his or her classes.
This week:
Due Monday: PR** books and binders with tabs (8). If you requested materials from me, they will be provided; otherwise, please check to be sure your child has these items.
Due Friday:
RDW#** What does perspective mean? What are some reasons people have different perspectives. Think and write about a time when your perspective of something was different than that of someone else. Highlight the word perspective.
RDW#2 What do we learn from losing in this article (attached)? What does the author say? What is your perspective? Include some of your own experiences or things you have observed.
*Use and highlight two short, simple sentences for effect in your response.
Tutoring Tuesdays--Beginning next week, each Tuesday after school, I will be offering tutoring from 2:45-3:20. If your child needs extra help or would like to retake a quiz, he or she is more than welcome to attend. In order to retake quizzes, however, students must attend.
**Acronyms
-RDW—Rough draft writings (one full page in length)
-PR—Personal reading books (students must read a minimum of two per quarter)
Have a great week, and please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Leanne Falconer
