Dear parents,
This week we are continuing with our informational essays, and we will be focusing on summarizing and including text evidence while avoiding plagiarism.
Due dates:
RDW #1—Students began writing four versions of a thesis statement in the computer lab Friday. They need to have one of the four checked by Friday (or on Friday)
RDW #2: Summarize your RDW #3 from last week more concisely. Keeping all the main ideas, rewrite the summary based on the discussion from class today . In the space remaining, explain the changes you made and how it impacted the reader’s understanding of your writing. Highlight transitions.
RDW #3--Using formal writing, summarize your notes on plagiarism (without plagiarizing! J). Consider defining plagiarism, discussing how to avoid it, and describing how to identify it. Highlight transitions.
Other due dates:
Pies and Presidents scholarship essay (1/30)
Scholastic book orders (1/30)
Book talks (1/30)
Have a great week!
Leanne Falconer and Greg Prusakiewicz
